abstract submission terms and conditions

By submitting your abstract as a presenter and author, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

Who can submit: We welcome applications from counselling and psychotherapy and the broader allied health community.

Language: Submissions must be in English.

Submission Method: Only presentations submitted via the conference submission portal will be accepted.

Content Approval: You agree with the content of the abstract and have given or received permission to be a presenter.

Ethical Standards: You adhere to the ACA Code of Ethics and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (if applicable).

Conflict of Interest Disclosure: You will disclose any potential conflict of interest or other relationships so that attendees can form their own opinions on the information being presented.

Free of Commercial Bias: Presentations must be free of any commercial bias, and commercial literature, trade, or commercial names should be avoided.

Plagiarism: Plagiarism is considered a serious offence and will result in the abstract being rejected. It may also lead to severe consequences determined by the ACA.

Ethics Approval: Research projects require ethics approval unless they are systematic reviews. Informed consent must be obtained from participants or their guardians for any research project.

Copyright Permission: You have permission from the copyright holder to reproduce material owned by them in the abstract and acknowledge the source in the references.

Publication Consent: You allow the ACA to publish the abstract on ACA communication channels.

Third-party Consent: You have obtained all appropriate consents and approvals from any third party for the use of the information provided.

Legislative Compliance: You have complied with all legislation, including that relating to the privacy of any person or client.

Media Activity: You allow the ACA to live stream and record the presentation and make the recording available on ACA communication channels. You will assist in media activities, including interviews, as reasonably requested by the ACA.

If selected for the program, at least one author will be available in person to provide the presentation at the Conference. Authors will notify the ACA if they are unable to present or if the presenter changes at the earliest so as to make the necessary changes.

The presenting author will be required to register for the Conference to ensure their presentation is included in the final program.

Presentation on the day:

  • The ACA highly recommends PPT Presentations with a limited number of slides or no slides at all, allowing attendees to focus on the presenter and the power of the words. Slides should be visual and not too wordy, using mainly infographics, pictures, and sketches to clearly visualise the ideas and concepts.
  • The presenter gives permission to the ACA to record and publish the presentation to be accessible on the ACA video library
